When and how much to water
There are approximately 50 species and varieties belonging to the genus called Albizia and can be grown in pots or in the open ground. Young plants need constant attention, especially during the delicate rooting phase. In fact, a very important aspect is the water supply to be provided on a regular basis, starting from the summer season. If this type of plant grows in areas characterized by hot and sultry summers, the quantity of water dispensed must be greater, to always obtain luxuriant growth. Already adult specimens of Albizia are quite autonomous and need irrigation only in drought periods. In autumn the waterings are gradually reduced and in winter they are suspended completely, until the arrival of summer.
How to take care of it
The plants belonging to the genus Albizia are rustic and can adapt without too much difficulty to various environmental contexts. In fact, they withstand the cold and temperatures much below zero, withstand the sultry heat and are not affected by the saltiness. If they are grown in pots they need roomy container compartments, since they do not like decantings carried out too frequently. The soil that the Albizia species prefer is fertile and well drained, the ideal is to choose a substrate composed of slightly acidic soil mixed with a part of coarse sand, to ensure the drainage of irrigations. Pruning interventions are necessary at the end of winter, to maintain the shape of the crown and eliminate dry branches damaged by the cold season.

When and how to fertilize
The genus of plants called Albizia must be fertilized during the entire flowering period. Indeed, it is important to support these plants by providing the main nutrients necessary for floral production. The best time to start feeding a good liquid organic fertilizer is in late spring. The solution is diluted directly in the irrigation water and the procedure is repeated approximately every 20 days. Alternatively, you can opt for a slow release granular fertilizer to be spread on the ground. Furthermore, it is important to know, in order to choose the most suitable specific product, that this type of plants does not like fertilizers with high levels of nitrogen. Once flowering is complete, the administration is suspended until the following spring.
Albizia: Exposure, diseases and remedies
Albizia shrubs and trees prefer sunny and bright exposures, if they are grown in the northern regions. On the contrary, in the southern areas it is advisable to place the specimens towards the east, in such a way as to receive the correct amount of light and remain sheltered from the sun during the hottest hours. The main enemy of Albizia plants is a phytophagous insect known as psylla. Infestations are dangerous and severely damage the entire plant structure. The prevention and monitoring of individual plants is also important, and it is advisable to contact specialized personnel to deal with the parasite attack. In general, the use of potassium salts for larvae is recommended while adult insects should be treated with rotenone.
